Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho blasted back at the wife of rival Rafa Benitez who suggest to a Spanish newspaper that her husband was 'cleaning up another one of his messes' at Real Madrid.
Benitez was hired by Real Madrid after a spell at Napoli, the third club the pair have shared, although Mourinho was quick to point out the facts when responding to Maria de Montserrat - before throwing in a few jibes of his own.
"The lady is a bit confused," Mourinho said after Chelsea defeated Barcelona on penalties in Washington. "Her husband went to Chelsea to replace Roberto Di Matteo and he went to Real Madrid and replaced Carlo Ancelotti.
"The only club where her husband replaced me was at Inter Milan, where in six months he destroyed the best team in Europe at the time."
He then added that de Montserrat should be more focused on "taking care of her husband's diet and she will not have any time to talk about me."
The pair have been fierce opponents dating back to Benitez's days at Liverpool from 2004 and obviously nothing has changed in the many years since.
