Former Liverpool and Denmark defender Daniel Agger has decided to retire from football at the tender age of 31.

The Brondby man made the shock announcement on Thursday just two years after rejoining his boyhood club.

During his career, Agger won the Danish league and cup, the English League Cup and the Danish Player of the Year award.

Just three years ago, Agger was linked to a big money move from Anfield to Spanish giants FC Barcelona.
